UEFA Champions League Matchday 2: Wednesday’s Top matches
Juventus v Chelsea is probably the match of the night (bet on under 2.5 goals) but there are a lot of European giants competing with some great individual battles: will Thomas Muller score his 50th Champions League goal for Bayern against Kiev, will Ronaldo score while breaking the record for most Champions League appearances against Villareal?

FC Bayern Munich v Dynamo Kiev
Neo.bet is offering an odds boost on Bayern in this of 0:3.5 at 3.0.
This might be better value than the straight bet given that the German giants are overwhelming favourites for this match – indeed, the bookies make them third favourite to win the Champions league 2021/2.
Bayern Munich were merciless in their 3-0 demolition of Barcelona.
Bayern have now scored 40 goals in an eight-match winning run – five a game!
Thomas Muller is at odds of 2.2 to score that landmark goal, a 45% probability. If it were any other team those odds would seem mean, but given Bayern’s form – and Müller’s, after scoring against Barça – it’s worth a bet.

Prior to Bayern’s last Champions League match at the Allianz Arena ending in a loss to PSG they triumphed in their earlier eight European home matches – scoring at least twice.
The Ukrainians will be nervous. Yes they scraped a creditable draw against Benfica in their Champions League Matchday 1 encounter, and as league champions are the only Ukrainian team yet to lose.
But they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Super Cup and have only won 1 in 12 of their last CL away clashes.

Benfica v Barcelona
A much more evenly balanced match than such a fixture would have been last season. Barcelona are struggling and have injuries facing an in-form Benfica who have drawn their last two Champions League matches and are a force at home.
Benfica have seven wins from seven in the Primeira Liga. Not only have Benfica won their last five home matches, they have also won five of their last six home Champions League matches.

Barça’s weekend 3-0 win over Levante ended a three-match winless run but after their 3-0 defeat to Bayern speculation grew that Ronald Koeman remains manager only because he is too expensive to sack.
Which tempts you to bet on Benfica but this is still Barça (albeit weakened) and they are unbeaten in their last eight away Champions League encounters, while they have prevented Benfica scoring in their last four meetings.
Benfica did also fail to score past Kiev in their Champions League Matchday 1 match despite 12 shots, suggesting they struggle to translate domestic dominance into international goals.
So the draw looks decent value at odds of 3.4.

FC Red Bull Salzburg v Lille
This largely young Austrian side is in fantastic form and is good value to beat the French champions.
So far this season they have won 14 of 15 games (with a strong draw against Sevilla in their last Champions League match).
Lille have endured a poor start with their manager under pressure, though they played well against Wolfsburg in their opening CL match and just couldn’t find a way past the Bundesliga club’s once again solid defence. Lille held on to a decent 2-1 away win at Strasbourg at the weekend, but this was their first away win in five and they have not kept a clean sheet on their travels yet this season.

This should encourage Salzburg who have scored 16 in their last five.
So we also quite like the over 2.5 goals bet: the Austrians are lethal in front of goal, and while we expect them to score a couple – they average two goals a game at home in the Champions League – we also think Lille are quite likely to score: they score in most games and had a lot of shots against Wolfsburg.

VfL Wolfsburg v Sevilla
Odds of over 3 for the draw look quite tasty to us in this 3rd v 3rd battle (Bundesliga v La Liga) after both teams drew in their opening Champions League matches of 2021/2.
Wolfsburg had been enjoying an excellent season before last weekend’s surprise 3-1 defeat to Hoffenheim.
The Spanish are unbeaten in six and the Germans in four of six. Wolfsburg have four out (three injured, one suspended).
