Betting Tips in the Championship Today
The Championship is the league that never rests with three games on Wednesday, four on Thursday and then the same teams back in action on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We will publish a separate weekend Championship betting guide for those matches.
Swansea-Luton and Birmingham-Peterborough are postponed.
We are not including it in our betting guide as we are not sufficiently confident of this one, but Coventry v Millwall to end in a draw is generously priced at Championship odds of 3.8. Coventry have drawn four of their last five and have struggled for goals and wins after a bright start while Millwall solid if uninspiring and have two draws and two defeats with one win in the last five.
Similarly, we think Stoke will beat Derby but the Rams have a “never say die” attitude and Stoke have lost a lot of their earlier good form. So only worth a small bet Stoke to win at Championship odds of 1.73.
But there are some – to us – much better value bets below.
Below in our Championship betting guide are the matches where we see value for your to bet, so offer Championship tips and predictions.
Wednesday 29th December 2021
Championship Betting Guide: Blackburn v Barnsley
We are amazed you can get odds as high as 1.61 on Blackburn to win: Blackburn are THE form team in the Championship with eight wins and a draw out of ten games (indeed, they have just one win in their last 21 league games). Barnsley are bottom of our same form table with just one win and six defeats over that period.
Barnsley are starting to look like strong relegation candidates while Blackburn are certainly serious contenders for the play offs.
Anything can happen in this division as we always warn in our Championship betting guides, but the form suggests this is about as nailed on a bet at decent odds that any tipster could reasonably predict in the Championship.
They are, remarkably, aiming for their sixth victory in a row to nil! They have not conceded for 506 minutes. They have also managed a divisional high of 28 goals at home.
Blackburn didn’t play on Boxing Day as Hull postponed due to Covid so will be rested.
Home: 1.61
Draw: 4.2
Away: 6.6
EagleBet Championship Prediction:
Home win
EagleBet Championship pro betting tip:
Home win is a great bet at anything like these Championship odds. Over 1.5 home goals at 1.73. Under 1.5 away goals at 1.23 – low odds yes, but Barnsley have only scored 15 goals all season.
Championship betting guide: Blackpool v Middlesbrough
It’s all gone wrong for Blackpool lately with four defeats in five while Middlesbrough have won four of their last five. Another great betting chance.
Home: 4.1
Draw: 3.55
Away: 2.05
EagleBet Championship Prediction:
Away win (failing that draw)
EagleBet Championship pro betting tip:
The away win is decent odds but if you want to be ultra-cautious you can bet Draw no bet Middlesbrough at Championship odds of 1.5
Thursday 30th December
Championship Betting Guide: Bournemouth v Cardiff
Bournemouth top of the table and at Championship odds of 1.69 to win at home to a side 20th in the league?
Unless this Championship betting guide has lost its touch – and we don’t think so, because so many of our Championship predictions turn into winning bets – there has to be good value in this bet, surely?
Yes Bournemouth were on a terrible run but if you saw how well they played to get back to winning ways to beat play-off contenders QPR, you would know what mean. Crucially, they have a couple of key players back from injury which seemed to make the difference at QPR.
Home: 1.69
Draw: 4
Away: 5.9
EagleBet Championship Prediction:
Home
EagleBet Championship pro betting tip:
Cracking value the away win and our star tip in this week’s Championship betting guide. Also Brereton anytime goalscorer at anything remotely approaching 3.5. You might also like over 1.5 Blackburn goals at Championship odds of 2.4
Championship betting guide: Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield
Until Forest lost last time at Middlesbrough they had been almost unbeatable. Forest were second only to Blackburn in the form table and we have personally won a lot of bets after tipping them in our Championship betting guides. Prior to that defeat they had only lost one game in 16, and that to Fulham.
Their only fault was that they were perhaps drawing too many – five of the last 10.
Huddersfield were on a difficult run but have bounced back to win their last two, following two draws.
Forest are unbeaten in five at home.
Huddersfield haven’t won back to back away since 2016/7.
Home: 2.03
Draw: 3.5
Away: 4.2
EagleBet Championship Prediction:
Home win or draw
EagleBet Championship pro betting tip:
We think Forest will win this but we like being honest in our Championship betting guide and we have just a winty bit of doubt – hence we have bet Forest draw no bet at Championship odds of 1.5
