Football is certainly back and here we give you betting tips, predictions and odds for the hottest matches happening this weekend including the 2021 Tokyo Olympic final between Europe and South America: Spain v Brazil, along with domestic action in England and France.
Tokyo Olympics Football Final Brazil vs Spain Odds & Predictions
Does football get any sexier than a Brazil v Spain final for the gold medal?
Saturday evening’s match pitches two of the world’s great national teams against each other in Japan to be crowned kings of the world.
Head to heads:
• Brazil 5 wins
• Spain 2 wins
• 2 Draws
However, the last match – a 3-0 win for Brazil – was back in 2013 so there is probably not much relevance here.
Odds for the Olympic Football Final Brazil vs Spain
• Brazil: 31/20
• Spain: 2/1
• Draw: 15/8
EagleBet prediction: Brazil has looked stronger to us, particularly defensively, while at the other end Richarlison has been on fire.
Plus this is the third time in a row Brazil has featured in the gold medal stage – maybe the age cap has helped as their young stars seem to break through quicker than in many European leagues.
Our prediction is that Brazil will claim gold and beat Spain in the Olympic final.
Japan v Mexico 2021 Olympics Football Bronze Medal
Japan’s chance of glory in front of their own fans was dashed when they lost to Spain in the semi-finals, while Mexico lost to Brazil.
Today both teams will be battling to salvage pride to win an Olympic bronze medal, which has attracted a surprising number of bets.
Japan survived in normal time against Spain and it took a special curling goal to sink them.
While Mexico did well to hang on until penalties against Brazil, they lost to Japan 2-1 in the group stages and we predict a similar result for the bronze medal, which we think will be won by Japan.
Odds for Japan v Mexico
• Mexico: 31/20
• Japan: 7/4
• Draw: 11/5
EagleBet prediction: with the return of Tomiyasu and a strong looking line up we are predicting a victory for Japan to win an Olympic gold medal.
Fulham vs Middlesbrough
The first day of the English Championship kicks off this weekend with recently relegated Fulham hosting Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough.
As we say in our preview of all Championship matches this weekend never write off a Neil Warnock side in the Championship. His Middlesbrough team is sure to be competitive but Warnock hasn’t yet managed to sign the strikers he needs to fire ‘boro towards the play off places in our view. This, though, has not stopped many pundits predicting that Middlesbrough will finish in the top six, mainly due to Warnock’s reputation.
If Fulham play to anything like their potential – albeit with a new manager unused to the Championship – this should be a fairly comfortable home win for Fulham.
Odds for Fulham v Middlesbrough
• Fulham: 1/1
• Draw: 28/11
• Middlesbrough: 10/3
EagleBet prediction: Fulham win
Metz vs Lille
This Sunday Lille kick off their Ligue 1 title defence – yes, I can’t quite believe I just wrote that either – after they brushed aside those aristocrats of world football PSG to be crowned French champions last season.
It was their first Ligue 1 title in a decade. Lille again beat PSG in last Sunday’s Trophee des Champions.
Lille have lost a couple of their best players and their manager in the close season and will certainly find it tougher this season but they should have too much for Metz. The home side survived quite comfortably last season but anything less than a Lille win would be a shock.
Metz vs Lille Betting Odds
• Metz: 2/1
• Lille: 2/5
EagleBet verdict: Lille to win in second gear
