Turkish Volleyball 1. Ligi

Turkish Volleyball 1. Ligi betting guide

Turkish Volleyball 1. Ligi Betting Tips

Volleyball 1. Ligi is Turkey’s top women’s volleyball league. It began in 1983 and has since gained a reputation as one of the most prestigious and highest quality professional women’s volleyball leagues in the world. This quality makes the 1. Ligi is a fantastic option for online betting, with great odds available across the best betting sites listed at EagleBet for final results, total points, and individual set results.

1. Ligi Format

The 1. Ligi is composed of 12 teams, including sides from Istanbul, Ankara and Bursa. Each team plays each other twice, once home and once away, in a double round-robin format. The top eight sides at the end of this competition advance to the play-offs, in which 1st place will play 8th place, 2nd will play 7th and so on.

This section of the competition is a knockout phase, and the team which wins the final of the play-offs is crowned national champion. The one-off nature of these games means that they are far more unpredictable than results over a league campaign, and the play-offs are a huge draw to many involved in online betting, with fantastic odds offered.

The bottom four sides in the league enter a “play out”, in which they all play each other two further times. After this mini-league, the bottom two sides were relegated to the second tier of Turkish volleyball, and replaced by two promoted sides.

Team To watch: Eczacibasi

The historic giants of the competition, Eczacibasi are the most decorated side in the league’s history, having won the 1. Ligi title 17 times. In the 2014/15, they also won the CEV Champions League, the European volleyball competition, and followed it up with the 2015 FIVB World Club Championship. A year later, they then became the first club to defend their World Champion status, as they defied the odds and won the competition in the Philippines.

Team To watch: Vakifbank SK

The biggest threat to Eczacibasi’s stature in the competition is Vakifbank SK. The club holds a world record for the longest win streak in volleyball history, winning 73 games in a row from October 2012 to January 2014.

In addition to an impressive 11 turkish titles, the Istanbul-based club have achieved 4 Champions League victories, as well as 3 club world championships, and are widely-regarded to be one of the best current women’s volleyball sides. In the world of Volleyball, they are certainly a side not to be betting against.

1. Ligi Scoring Rules

The Turkish 1. Ligi follows the rules set out by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Each fixture is a best of five sets. The first four of these sets are played to 25 points, with the final set being played to just fifteen points. A team must win the final set by two clear points to be declared the winner.
