Russia Supreme Hockey League

Russia Supreme Hockey League betting guide

Russia Supreme Hockey League Betting Tips

Mainly held in Russia, the VHL is the second tier of ice hockey. It is known in English as the Major, Supreme or Higher Hockey League. Russia provides 27 teams, with China and Kazakhstan offering three each. The 34th team comes from Uzbekistan.
All 34 teams compete to win the Petrov Cup (previously known as the Bratina Cup) which decides the play-off winners after the end of the regular season. With two exceptions, this has been won by a team from Russia, so it may be prudent to study the odds of those 27 teams when betting on Russia’s VHL.

Russian VHL Top Teams

Among them are the teams from Kazan (Bars), Moscow (Zvezda), Nizhny Novgorod (Torpedo-Gorky) and Rostov (both HC and Lada Togliatti). Currently Saint Petersburg has two representatives in Russia’s VHL: Dinamo and SKA-Neva. Both teams play at Yubileyny Sports Palace, which can hold 7000 fans. Dinamo took the championship four games to two against their rivals, which was very impressive as they only formed in 2016.

Saryarka Karagandy And Ilya Antonovsky

The Chinese teams come from Harbin, Jilin and Beijing. The Kazakh and current VHL champions are Saryarka Karagandy, who also won in 2013/14. Their captain Ilya Antonovsky is Russian and also a qualified doctor, whose uncle is a champion speed skater. Karagandy defeated Rubin Tyumen in the final in the best-of-seven final play-off game last season, which makes them a good team to place bets on for the 2020/21 season.

Rubin Tyumen

Rubin Tyumen have been in four finals, winning only one in the inaugural VHL season (2010/11) after finishing the regular season on the top of the league table. The side who have won the most titles is Toros Neftekamsk: 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2014/15. They play in front of around 2000 people at their Ice Palace and have also reached the play-offs in every Russian VHL season.

The Tashkent-based Uzbek team Humo play in the Ice Dome, which has a capacity of 12,500. They are named after the mythical bird the Huma. They spent their debut season in the VHL in 2019/20 but their future as a hockey team is currently uncertain. It will be prudent to study the betting odds when ice hockey resumes to see whether Humo returns to Russia’s VHL or return to the Uzbek league.

Russia VHL Betting And Odds

EagleBet has listed some of the very best betting sites that allow you to study the odds and go betting on matches in Russia’s VHL. Russians love ice hockey and are currently ranked second in the world. They are one of the big six nations in the sport along with Canada, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic and the USA. In fact, Russia is the best team in Europe having come top in the four-team Euro Hockey Tour league.
As OAR, or Olympic Athletes from Russia, the team took the goal medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. They were captained by goaltender Pavel Datsyuk, who plays in the top tier of Russian ice hockey, the KHL.
It may be that the next great Russian player moves to the KHL from the VHL, making it a sport worth placing online bets on and spotting future talent. The odds may lie with a Russian team winning the title, but betting on them is no surefire bet.
